Week 14 and on to the playoffs we go

 First let me start with Congratulations to every team except Alex. You are all not in last place. Congrats Alex this is the earliest someone has every clinched the raffle but Chris made a late run and escaped his dire fate. 

Now bigger congrats to Ryan and Roger for securing Wildcard berths this year. It was a tough year for many teams making late charges for the playoffs but you guys were able to be the best nondivision winners. 

Matt and Doug were the division winners that get to take on Ryan and Roger. Roger and Matt face off for the 3rd time this year while Ryan and Doug square off. Doug team has been decimated by injuries but he has found a way to get in and is hoping to slow down Ryan. 

Roger looking for his first playoff win takes on his division winner. A player who thinks I told him not to add anymore players because the rest of the league will revolt if he wins. So he has an empty bench spot and apparently going to start Derrick Carr this week. Roger you better win, I might tell him it is okay he should add a player and maybe replace Carr. 

Also Congrats to Steve for locking down the 2 seed. He will play the winner of Matt and Roger.

The winner of Ryan and Doug take on Frank in the next round.

Week 13 The playoffs are a week away and basically everyone has a chance

 Well that was an exciting week of Fantasy Football if you want chaos. 

Chris was able to to pull off his best week of the year and knock Rich out of the playoffs. With the loss Rich has only one hope to make the playoffs. Brendan, Roger, and Dan all have to forget to set lineups so Sorry Rich you gave it a good try.

Alex lost to Steve so Steve clinched a playoff spot. He clinches the 2 seed with a win or loss by Matt. Tie breaker is too close to call so well see how that breaks down.

Ryan lost his match up to Doug which basically clinches the Division for Doug if he sets a lineup this week. It also means that Ryan needs a win or loss by 2 of Brendan, Roger and Dan. Ryan cannot win his division. 

Speaking of Connor. He defeated Dan to keep the slim hope alive but he needs to outscore Doug by around 100 and have Doug lose this week so he is not making the playoffs. Dan on the other hand needs a win and losses by Brendan and Roger or a win and Ryan loss and hope the tiebreaker fall his way. 

In the closest match up of the week Matt was able to overcome an injury to his QB and defeat Brendan by 1 point to clinch a playoff spot. If he wins this week against Alex a Steve loss to Brendan could get him the number 2 seed and a bye. 

Roger went Down to Frank this week but outscored Dan by enough to take over the first tie break so he has the inside track for the 2nd wildcard spot. 

To summarize the last playoff spot 

Rich can get if no one sets a line-up

Brendan gets it if he wins and Roger and Dan lose this week

Dan gets it with a win and Roger loss or Roger win were Dan outscores Roger by enough points or by winning the tiebreaker

Roger gets it if none of the above happens.

Playoffs after week 12

 Borrowed Matt's Surface during the Thursday night game. Oddly last time I broke my laptop I borrowed his surface to write my law school journal application in iceland. So thanks for that. Making this one quick here are the playoff scenarios as I see them, may not be 100% accurate. 

Alex, Chris gone.

Rich needs 2 wins and Dan to lose two in a row, one of Roger or Matt to lose 2 in a row and Brendan to lose 1 and out not outscore Rich by 34 over the next two weeks. ESPN puts it at 3% which might be high.

On the flip side of the east Division, Frank is in as long as I set a lineup based on the points scored I have over Brendan. A bye is clinched with a win or lost by Matt based on tiebreakers.

Brendan gets in with 2 wins, 1 win and 2 loses by Dan and Roger and a lose by Rich or outscoring Rich by 34 points. Realistically that is the only tie breaker Brendan can win if full lineups are set each week. ESPN says 23% which is probably fair. 

Next to the North Doug wins the north if he wins 1 more week and is not outscored by Connor by 84 points the next 2 weeks. He is on a 5 game losing streak but connor is on a 4 game so like Doug's chances

Connor needs 2 more wins than Doug so this week against Dan is a must win since that tiebreaker is unlikely to go his way.

In the West Steve gets a spot with a win or a lost by 2 of Dan, Brendan, and Roger since he has tiebreakers against everyone who's last name is not Brennan. He plays Alex this week so he is in.

Ryan gets a spot with 2 wins or 1 win and a lost by 2 of Dan Brendan and Roger, Ryan likely losses all tiebreakers except to Brendan. 

Ryan gets a bye if wins out and Steve losses a game. Steve gets it is wins out. Matt gets it if he wins out and Steve and Ryan lose a game. 

Matt wins his division with 2 wins 1 win and 1 Roger loss or 2 Roger losses, Roger wins it if the opposite of that occurs.

Dan gets the 2nd wildcard with 2 wins, 1 win and losses by Brendan and Roger (while holding the tie break 4 point edge on Roger right now)

Week 11 Is it Connor Dowd sadness season?

 Alright the trade deadline is tomorrow. I am shooting free throws at the Sixers tonight so this is getting knocked out fast. 

First Alex lost to Dan. He had 4 players on bye so he gets hit with a $20 fine. Yikes, Alex please set your lineup this week. 

The worse game of the week was Ryan and Connor. Ryan pulled out the win 66-58 in the luckiest win of the season and Ryan holds on to the last playoff spot despite only scoring over 100 twice this year. Very Lucky so far Ryan. Connor so embarrassing but don't worry let's look at doug's team.

Seems all Doug's players not named Kelce are on IR. Not good. He does get Hill back from bye but Kupp. Thomas and Dobbins being on IR could hurt but with a one game division lead if Connor does not win another game Doug will sneak in. 

Rich crushed Roger, which puts Roger on the outside looking in of the playoff picture. Could Roger's hot start fizzle out so soon. Seems like it is but with 3 weeks left he needs some losses by Brendan or Ryan to get that wild card spot. 

Speaking of Brendan he took an unfortunate loss to Chris who roster decided that Justin Jefferson was holding him back. With the win it looks like Alex is locking down last place this year. Hard to see him picking up many more Ws this year. 

Frank beat Matt in the battle of the top teams, but Matt took revenge as the brothers played in multiple leagues this week. Not that any of the other 4 readers care. 

So time to break down playoff chances 

Frank ESPN chance of making the playoffs = 98% 1 more win clinches a spot, 2 wins or Brendan Ls clinch the division 

MAtt/Coin Espn chance of making the playoffs=  91% 2 wins gets him in for sure

Steve 84%/Ryan 78% tied for the division 2 wins gets steve in for sure likely gets Ryan if Roger and Dan lose

Doug 74% Game lead over Connor with the tie breaker 2 wins likely gets the job down for him

Roger Brendan 52% and 46% Winner here probably makes it unless Dan goes undefeated the rest of the way

Dan 45% needs Brendan, Steve, or Ryan to lose 2 games and win 2 of 3

Connor 26% basically win out, or 2-1 with Doug losing 2 and score a lot more points than him the next 3 weeks

Rich 6% Rich needs to win out and have lots of ties. I am surprised it is at 6%

Alex and Chris 0%

Next week a few teams might have spots locked down. Have a happy Thanksgiving all!

Week 10 Hitting the home stretch

 Alright everyone 4 weeks remain and all of you have a chance to make the playoffs other than Alex and Chris. Sorry guys you are just losers this year enjoy fighting each other for last place. Currently Alex is the favorite for that spot because Chris seems to be able to make functional line-ups. Alex just seems to be non-competive. 

Also sorry for the delay, tuesday was my mom's birthday and Wednesday I went to see Wakanda Forever so I was delayed. 

Now to the part you care about. 

Rich defeated Doug in a surprising upset. Rich looked to be dead in the water but now he has an outside chance of getting the 2nd wildcard spot. Slim but still a chance. With the loss Doug keeps his one game lead in the division Can he hold off Connor, it will be tough.

Brendan beat Alex, which isn't a surprise because well Alex is no longer trying this year. Brendan with the win keeps a share of the lead in his division. 

In another Huge upset Chris got his second win of the season over Ryan. Ryan had been on an impressive run but the L could make passing Steve difficult with the remaining schedule.

Dan defeated Roger and his now only 1 game out of a playoff spot. Dan showing that making bold moves can pay off. Could his trade for Dalvin Cook propel him into the playoffs maybe. He only needs 1 more slip by Ryan and Steve.

Matt took down Steve, combined with the other upsets this week gave everyone a chance in the league. The guy is leading the league in points but injuries seem to be taking a toll on his team. Can the most dominate team of the year hold on or will he fall short again and be passed by a slick mover.

Also I beat Connor in a battle of the Birthday Boys. Sorry Connor I couldn't afford to lose. Brendan's team is getting to many wins this year. 

Best of luck and after this week the playoff picture will either be clear or a complete mess. I am hoping for the 2nd because chaos is fun.

Week 9 Easiest recap ever

 Only one person gets a mention today. Congrats on winning your matchup this week Brendan. Brendan was carried to victory by the New England D and kicker his two leading scorers. 26 from his D put him over the top for the 13 point win. Good luck today Brendan hopeful you win today too.

That is not the only reason Brendan was included this week.

Week 8 Another Halloween adventure

 Once a year the veil between the realm of the living and the realm of spirits weakens to the point that it is as thin as a sheet. During this time it is possible for some spirits who have unresolved issues to enter the realm of the living and take the form of their prior life. The most unadjusted of the spirits act as if they have never left the realm of the living. A year ago our brave adventures overcame the spirit of the bronze lady and her curses. This year four of them take on a new challenge from the spirit realm. 

(Disclaimer the following events are definitely not based on a true story and no one is to think that any of the following characters are based on real people. Unlikely similarities to a real person is coincidence and completely unintended)

This adventure starts when 3 of the crew decided not to wait for the guy who is always late and go get dinner somewhere in the phillies fan could watch the world series game. Well because it was the weekend the veil is the thinnest in Sleepy Hallow where the veil is thinner all year, the restaurant had no spots to sit at first so as one does they sat at the bar and waited for the table that was supposed to open in 15 minutes. 45 minutes latter and the enough seats finally opened up and the decision was made to just eat at the bar as he who is always late was not only 30 minutes away. Enjoying the highly alcoholic pumpkin beer and pizza this seemed like it was going to be a perfectly normal night. 

Obviously my dear reader, if it was a perfectly normal night we wouldn’t have a story and I would be writing about how Steve was able to get an essentially meaningless TD by Higgans with 6 minutes in the game on Monday to put him ahead of Chris, after he scored 0 points the first 54 minutes of the game. Fortunately for us all we have some new characters that entered through the door. As our crew was enjoying the first two pizzas the fourth member of this crew walked in just in time to enjoy the last two slices. (Full disclosure the pizza was good but it was on the small side, seen by 4 people eating 5 pizzas) With our crew intact the spirits around them decided it was time to have some fun with those that braved the curse of the bronze lady one year before.  

The first spirit was a particular Brit who was visiting Sleepy Hallow for Halloween, not that he told our brave adventures that the reason for his visit was because it was the only place he could get through early. Dameon Ravencroft was a decent man in life who had the dream of being a true actor. Thinking he would follow the path of the more famous Ravencroft actors he set off to get famous the best way possible for a english actor in the early oughts. Try to get on Game of Thrones, with his cousin Josh there he thought that he was moments from his big break, Unfortunately, D+D didn’t see the potential and sent him away only for him to turn up as a background actor in a few BCC shows. Not wanting to continue living as a g list british actor he turned to the one type of film that he could make it up to a C list star, adult movie making. After a rough start he was able to quickly transition into the British 2nd favorite type of adult movies, Sleeping with a former colony man’s wife. Unfortunately, for him he took his job home with him one day while with an Indian woman her husband came rushing in and killed them both. A great acting career ended so soon.

So our new friend Dameon has little work as one word of his British speech as one of the still kind of newly weds interested in what he was to say. Of course newly wed number 2 has to comment that if he did that, well what would happen is too graphic for this family friendly blogger. It would be similar to what happen To BIG DICK Swinggin who fell victim to the offensive explosion of Baby Daddies and the new big three of CMC, Kamara and Foreman. Well has Dameon decided to try and make new friends talking about normal British stuff like how most Americans are mean but these 4 and how he has an awesome hydra tattoo another couple  enters the scene.

Other Rich and Cecilia were an interesting couple, one 42 and the other 27, they randomly met on the street in NYC when the younger was a mere 23 years old. The fates would interlock this difunctional couple for many reason but mainly because they hate many of the same groups of people. Those groups my dear readers I leave up to you but I’ll just say that they likely would avoid Los Managerios grand opening after the remodel just like they avoid winning taking the 124-57 loss this week. They lived together in the city for several years before moving out to the suburbs, unfortunately for them a tragic accident involving white sauce occured as they were about to move into their new place and they never made it. 

 Seeing that Dameon had some fresh ink on his forearm they interjected to tell the story of how they got tattoos on their first date. An octopus on his leg and a heart on her rib cage. Well other Rich and he who is always late have some great dog whistling banter until he drops a bomb. Cecolia, the seemingly nice icelandic girl, was actually Hitler reincarnated. Well he who is always late loves this and decides to make new friends. Because this is definitely a work of fiction and in no way true Dameon pulls out a photo of his grandfather for the newly weds and shows them how he was part of the nazi army. He died trying to defuse a bomb or something I think. THere was some hope that it was him trying to save jews but this isn’t a fairly tale. 

As Other Rich and Ceclcia have seemingly met a new best friend, something they could never achieve in the city where quick to establish that they were going to follow our crew of adventures to the end of the world if they could. So after and interesting back and forth on where to go next it was decided that the next stop would be down the street. Before embarking on the next leg of the trip Dameon had some chaos to cause as he tried his shot at reliving his former job. Asking the young newly wed if she liked her drink first and that it appears she didn’t and needed another one. Well not to have his night end on a low note decided to ask if she was happy in her marriage of just over 1 year. You know what they say it is all down hill after the first year. (Well that’s what Dameon told me) Just like Dan season has been downhill since he took over 1st place in his division, losing another tough match this week 132-101. Guy can’t catch a break. 

Leaving the bar was not a simple task despite Rich making jokes that he was looking to do thrill kills other Rich and Cecilia were happy to hitch a ride with him to the next location. They assumed it was going to be Dameon but you never really know. Like Brendan murdering Doug’s shot at the 2 seed this week in the classic Brendan low scoring battle, everyone assumed Dougs high flying WR would get him over the hump but they did not this week. Dameon was not done and wanted to see if the husband agreed with the status of their marriage and then invited the Phillies fan to come to the UK some time and visit. That’s not happening. Before the exit there was some talk of going to the apartment to change into costumes but there was great worry Rich would take other Rich and Cecilia back to the apartment. Rich does have a brain and dropped them off at the bar slightly before the rest arrived. World series on the TV overpriced beer secured one person happy. The replacements are happy we didn’t ditch them and other Rich was ready to show off his dance moves.

Now he danced up a storm throwing his hat all over the place. Like Roger was dancing all over the place after last week when he moved into first place in the league for the first time ever. That lasted exactly one week as Ryan beat Roger sending him back to the 2nd slot in his division. Much like Roger lost out on his top spot other Rich lost Cecilia to first Rich and some old guy in the corner. Other Rich and Cecilia disappear to renact the murder suicide that sent them to the spirit realm as they were always destined to do.
