Originally I had a fun idea for this weeks recap but on Monday I went to funeral for a coworker and friend of mine. She passed away at 56 years old and she was one of the nicest people in the office and just in life in general. It was a sad day, lots of tears where flowing as some of her best friends did reflections on her life. Now the you guys part, after funerals it has you thinking about your life and why you do some things so today I was thinking what is it that I like about fantasy football. The first thing I realized is it is not winning. The last time I won the championship 3 seasons ago I felt like there was no reason to try anymore. So winning is not important and it is simple the only thing that matters is the people you play with. I am down to 3 leagues, all of which have down in person drafts in the past. 1 did it fully online because of covid, but really because people moved out of the philly area and that is the league I care about the least. Through it is by far the most expensive and has bells and whistles to make it fun. I like 2 things about fantasy football these days draft day and the banter week to week mainly that Alex says. I love that it gives me a reason to randomly pick up the phone and try to make a trade work but make contact contact. I love that it gives me and my brother something to talk about when we go out to dinner especially when the Phillies where losing and the Sixers have nothing going on. Who gets Nick Chubb is major conversation since depending who you ask Chubb is either the most talented or 2nd most talented back in football. I love that it gives us a reason to get together ever year even if Dan and Steve never come.
So winning teams get a compliment this week and losing teams get a lessor one related to fantasy football.
Matt doesn't get one because he doesn't read these and he took the last potato roll at dinner for the pulled pork sandwiches tonight.
Chris I appreciate how willing you are to jump into ideas even bad ones like investigating Connor.
Roger I appreciate how you take being the joke of consistently coming in the bottom of the league and how you dodge punishment by not showing up when you finish in last, conveniently blaming school.
Doug I appreciate that you let me know what running backs to not draft as you making them a first round pick is an injury waiting to happen.
Connor I appreciate how you always give Alex some ammunition for his trash taking by willing staying in Ohio, the worst state in the northern half of the country.
Alex goes without saying your dedication to the gimmick you are running. Top notch
Ryan your belief you are the best team in your division despite all the facts that say opposite.
Brendan that being in the toughest division in the league instead of punting season you always make a go of it.
Dan that despite how little contact you have in making it to the draft that you still care about the league and you committed to drafting Allen number 2
Steve that you actually make it challenging
Rich that you back must still hurt from carrying the scramble to 7 under but take no credit.
That's it change of pace. Everyone in the comments should say something nice about there opponent next week followed by how you are going to crush them
I appreciate all the artsy pictures Dan posts on Instagram.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of pictures, he better take a picture of his team now because he won't even recognize them with how bad they're going to get crushed by my diamond hands!
